We are a fledgling community, starting off with three individuals as facilitators of conversations/content exchange on this community site. Eliz Morante Domingo Llanillo, born in the Philippines, has been living and working in Singapore since 2016. She is a published author and poet, and is a member of the literary group Migrant Writers of Singapore. She is also host of the storytelling platform, Open Borders, and actively organises and participates in various multicultural migrant worker projects in Singapore and wider Southeast Asia.
Belal Hassan was born in Bangladesh, and has been living and working in Singapore since 2012. He is an active member of various migrant worker initiatives in Singapore, including ‘The Story Behind Smile’, ‘Overseas Workers Singapore’ and the ‘Free Books’ initiative. He is published author and poet, and avid photographer of nature and city life.
Shzr Ee Tan, born in Singapore, is an ethnomusicologist and educator based in the University of London, where she is currently conducting fieldwork on behalf of the Arts and Humanities Research Council UK on the sounded lives of migrant workers in Southeast Asia. She is an avid consumer of Asian snacks and sauces.
Wiwi Tri is from Kediri, East Java, Indonesia. She has been living in Singapore as a domestic worker since 2004. She developed a passion in theatre and writing since she was very young. She believes that nothing is impossible as long as one works hard for it.
